Ching Chung Koon is originated from Guangzhou Che Po Toi, upholding the faith of Lui Cho. In 1950, a new altar named "Ching Chung Koon" was set up in Yau Ma Tei Wai Ching Street. Its name was in fact a divine revelation from Lui Cho during the ceremony. The Chinese characters “Ching Chung” can be rearranged to "December 18th and 18 Masters”, which amazingly coincided with the date when the altar was opened (18th of the 12th lunar month) and the number of Taoist masters at that time (18 Masters in total).

In 1960, Ching Chung Koon purchased a garden site in Tuen Mun Kei Lun Wai for building a new temple. After ten years of hard work, it has become the largest Taoist temple complex in Tuen Mun. The Hall of Pure Brightness is dedicated to the three founders of Taoism, with Lui Cho (Lu Tung Pin) in the middle and Wong Chung Yang (the founder of Chin Chun Sect) and Yau Chu Kei (the founder of the Dragon Gate Branch of Chin Chun Sect) at both sides. Another magnificent hall is the Yik Fa Kung, which venerates the four Teachers of the Dragon Gate Branch.

There are also many buildings of different ages, including the "Gate of All Wonders" archway, the Rising Sun Pavilion and the Treasure Moon Pavilion. They are all located on the central axis. In response to the social need, Ching Chung Koon started their elderly services in 1964. Elderly homes were built, together with a western medical clinic and a memorial hall to enshrine ancestor tablets.
